Eligibility Criteria for South Western Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2019

Educational Qualification

• Applicants should possess Passed 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination from Recognized Institutions or Matriculation Plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship/ ITI approved by NCVT/ SCVT with minimum sports norms
• Sports person must possess the minimum educational qualification, as applicable to the post to which the sports person is to be appointed. The minimum educational qualification required for recruitment in the Railways
  • For post in Level 2 & 3of 7th P.C Pay Matrix -12th Pass (+2 stage)
  • For post in Level 4 & 5 of 7th P.C Pay Matrix – Graduation
• Specific Level in Pay Matrix and place of posting will be decided by the Southern
• Railway administration at the time of offering appointment to the selected applicants based on the following
  • Availability of Posts
  • Educational Qualifications
  • Sports achievements and
  • Minimum qualifying marks obtained in the Recruitment process

Note: Persons, if appointed in the category of Clerk cum Typist should acquire typing proficiency of 30 w.p.m. in English or 25 w.p.m. in Hindi within a period of 4 years from the date of appointment and till such time their appointments to this category will be provisional.

Age Criteria

• The age limit for Southern Railway recruitment 2019 is 18 to 25 years as on January 1, 2020. That is applicant should be born between 02nd January 1995 and 01st January 2002

South Western Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2019 Selection Process

• Applicants will be selected based on trials & assessment of sports achievements, Educational Qualification, General Intelligence/ Personality, etc.
• The applicants, who apply in response to this notification and are found eligible for consideration for appointment against sports quota, will be assessed based on their performance during the trial and interview, as detailed below:
  • For Game Skill, Physical Fitness and Coach’s observation during trials – 40 Marks
  • For assessment of recognised sports achievements as per Norms – 50 Marks
  • Educational Qualification – 10 Marks
  • Total – 100 Marks

Note

• Applicants, who secured 25 marks or more in the trial only will be considered FIT
• Minimum qualifying marks for recruitment in Level-2 or 3 in 7th P.C. Pay Matrix duly Observing the Criteria as mentioned in Para 5.0 above shall be as follows.

Minimum Qualifying Marks Out of Total 100 Marks

• Level – 4 & 5 70 Marks
• Level – 2 & 3 65 Marks

Exam Fee

• Applicants applying for the posts in this EN have to pay the prescribed Fee payable in the form of IPO or Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of “The Assistant Personnel Officer/ Railway Recruitment Cell, Chennai” payable at Chennai
• The Exam Fee for all applicants except those mentioned in para (ii) below – Rs.500/-
• For applicants belonging to SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/ Persons with disabilities (PWDs), Women, Minorities and Economically Backward Classes – Rs.250/- with a provision for refunding the same to those who actually appear in the trial
• The Exam Fee should be paid in the form of crossed Indian Postal Order (IPO) only, from any Post Office drawn in favour of Asst. Personnel Officer/HQ, South Western Railway, Hubli, payable at Hubli

Relaxation on Payment of Fee

• Women applicants, SC/ST applicants, Ex. Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities, applicants belonging to Minority community and applicants belonging to Economically Backward Classes**: Rs.250/- (Rupees Two hundred and fifty only) with a provision for refunding the same to those who actually appear in the Trial.

Note:

• Minorities will mean Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Zorastrians (Parsis)
• Economically Backward Classes will mean the Applicants whose family income is less than Rs.50,000/- per annum
• Authorities competent to issue Income Certificates for the purpose of identifying Economically Backward Classes:
  • District Magistrate or any other Revenue Officer not below the level of Tahsildar.
  • Sitting Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha for persons of their own Constituency
  • Below Poverty Line (BPL) card or any other Certificate issued by Central Government.
  • Union Minister may also recommend for any persons from anywhere in the country.
  • Sitting Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha for persons of the district in which these MPs normally resides

Note: The certificates should be in the prescribed format (Proforma is available in the Website) and copy of the same should be enclosed with the application, failing which the application shall be rejected.

Important Instructions

• The applicants applying should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions at the time of submission of applications
• Applicants should bring their “ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES” in support of date of birth, educational qualification, Sports achievements and community on the day of Trial and Interview
• The name of the Sport/Discipline eg Athletics, Boxing etc and specific event I Category (viz. Backstroke I Butterfly I 1 OOm I 55Kg etc.,) of player should be mentioned without fail
• The applicants’ admission at all stages of the recruitment will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility condition
• Mere issue of call letter to the applicant will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared
• The applicant should be in readiness to appear for the trials at short notice after the last date of submission of application
• The applicant shall attend the trial/interview at the date, time and venue specified by the Railway Administration
• Any request for change of date, time and venue will not be entertained
• The applicant will have to make their own arrangements for their travel and stay at Chennai or the place indicated for a few days, while attending trial/interview
• Railway Administration will not be responsible for postal delay or wrong delivery, if any correspondence, at any stage of the recruitment process
• Railway Administration reserves the right to alter the stages of recruitment or cancel part or whole of any recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason
• Canvassing in any form, misbehaviour, misconduct on the part of the applicant at any part of the Recruitment process is strictly prohibited and indulgence in such practice will be viewed very seriously and their candidature shall be rejected without any notice
• It will not be possible to entertain any enquiry or correspondence while their recruitment process is going on
• Sports person recruited against sports quota shall be terminated from service, if the information and documents furnished by him/her for recruitment are found incorrect at any stage
• Sports persons recruited against Sports quota shall execute a “SERVICE BOND” for a period of 5 years
• Sports persons recruited against Sports quota will undergo probation period of two years
•  The performance of the sports persons shall be reviewed before completion of the probation period.
