CSIR UGC NET 2020 June Notification

CSIR UGC NET 2020 – National Testing Agency on behalf of The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) will be conducting CSIR UGC NET 2020 June Exam in CBT mode to determine the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professorship’ in Indian universities and colleges. CSIR UGC NET 2020 Exam

Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination would be conducted by NTA on 21st June, 2020 for determining the eligibility of Indian Nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and for determining eligibility for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professorship in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology.

The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible applicants will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.

CSIR UGC NET 2020 Application Form

  • Applicants can apply for Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2020 through “Online” mode.
  • Submission of Online Application Form may be done by accessing NTA website https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/. Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.
  • Only one application is to be submitted by a applicant.
  • Applicants must follow the instructions strictly as given in the Information Bulletin and on NTA website. Applicants not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.
  • Applicants must ensure that Email Address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own as all information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on registered Mobile Number only.

Eligibility Criteria for CSIR UGC NET 2020

  • M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/B. Tech/B. Pharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC applicants and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) applicants.
  • Applicants enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of Application Form, are also eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship.
  • Such applicants will have to submit the attestation form duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute from where the applicant is appearing or has appeared. B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC applicants; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) applicants are also eligible to apply.
  • Applicants with Bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D/Integrated Ph.D program within the validity period of two years. Applicants possessing only a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS)/ Associate Professor.
  • Specification of degrees (whether Bachelor’s or Master’s) as notified by UGC in its Gazette Notification No. F. 5-1/2013 (CPP-II) dated 5th July, 2014 and as amended from time to time, shall apply.
  • The eligibility for lectureship/ Assistant Professor of NET qualified applicants will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. Ph.D degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991 with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship/ Assistant Professor only.

Age Limit

  • JRF: Maximum 28 years as on 01.01.2020 {upper age limit may be relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability(PwD)/ female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC (Non Creamy Layer) applicants}.
  • Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.

Examination Centers

  • It is mandatory for applicants to select four cities of their choice while filling Online Application Form of Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2020.
  • Effort will be made to allot Centre of examination to the applicants in order of the City choice opted by them in their Application Form. However, due to administrative reasons, a different city or nearby area may be allotted.

CSIR NET 2020 June Admit Card

  • Appearing applicants of CSIR UGC NET June 2020, can download their admit cards from the official website www.csirnet.nta.nic.in.
  • Admit Card will be issued from 15th May 2020. The applicants have to enter their application form number and date of birth to download their admit card.
  • No hard copy of admit cards will be issued to any applicant. Applicants need to carry their admit cards along with them to the exam center.

CSIR NET 2020 Result

  • Two separate merit lists, one consisting of the applicants qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF-NET) and the second, of those applicants qualifying the Eligibility Test for Lectureship (LS-NET), will be made on the basis of their performance in the above Test.
  • Applicants qualifying for JRF (NET), will also be eligible for Lectureship (NET) subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria laid down by UGC.
  • The applicants qualifying for Lectureship will be eligible to be considered for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for Junior Research Fellowship in a Scheme/Project, if otherwise suitable.

Answer: CSIR UGC NET is a national level entrance examination for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship (LS) in the field of Science including Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences.

Q.2. How many attempts for CSIR UGC NET?

Answer: There is no limit on number of attempts for CSIR NET (JRF) exam. Students can keep appearing for exam till the age of 28 years for general and for SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PwD)/ female applicant till the age of 33 years and 31 years in case of OBC (Non Creamy Layer).

Answer: The tests are conducted twice in a year on all India basis generally in the months of June and December.

Q.8. How much stipend is given when one clears CSIR NET exam?

Answer: The stipend of a JRF selected through CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) will be Rs.25,000/ p.m. for the first two years. In addition, annual contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- per fellow will be provided to the University / Institution. On Completion of two years as JRF and if the Fellow is registered for PhD, the Fellowship will be upgraded to SRF (NET) and the stipend will be increased to Rs.28,000/- p.m. for the 3rd and subsequent years, on the basis of assessment of Fellows’ research progress/ achievements through interview by an Expert Committee.

9. What is the age limit & relaxation for JRF (NET) & LS (NET)?

Answer: For JRF (NET): Maximum 28 years (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of applicants belonging to SC/ST, Persons with Disability(PwD) and female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC (Non Creamy Layer) applicants}).

For LS (NET): No upper age limit.

10. What is the CSIR NET Syllabus and Exam pattern?

Answer:

The Test will be held in for five subjects viz., Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Earth, Physical Sciences Chemical Sciences, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences.

The MCQ test paper of each subject shall carry a maximum of 200 marks; the exam shall be for the duration of three hours and will be held in two sessions; morning 09.00 AM to 12.00 noon and afternoon 02.00 PM to 05.00 PM

The Question Booklet will be printed in Hindi & English Version.

The Test Booklet shall be divided into three parts, (A, B & C) as per syllabus & Scheme of Exam.

Part ‘A’ shall be common to all subjects. This part shall contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc.

Part ‘B’ shall contain subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus.

Part ‘C’ shall contain higher value questions that may test the applicant’s knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where an applicant is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem.

Q.11. What are the steps for applying online for CSIR NET?

Answer: Applicants should apply online only on CSIR-HRDG website: www.csirhrdg.res.in

An applicant may apply either for ‘Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)’ OR ‘Lectureship (LS)’. He/she may indicate his/her preference in the Online Application, as the case may be.

Applicants must write their name, father/mother’s name as written in their Matriculation Certificate (10th class Board) and should ensure that the same are matching with their educational qualification certificates and caste certificate except for married females. Married female applicants are required to send scanned copy of their marriage certificates along with any other documents as proof through e-mail to: [email protected] as and when asked for by CSIR-HRDG.

All Caste/PwD Certificates shall be strictly as per Govt. of India instructions. The validity of OBC certificates (Non creamy layer) shall be governed as per Govt. of India instructions.

After successful submission of ONLINE Application, an Application Number will be auto generated. Applicants are advised to preserve the Application Number for future reference and for downloading his/her e-Admit Card. Applicant should also keep a print (hardcopy) of the duly filled in application form for future use.

Q.12. What is the Examination Fee for CSIR UGC NET?

Answer: Applicants applying for the Examination are required to use payment gateway facility to deposit their Examination fee only through Credit Card or Debit Card or Net Banking. The Examination fee –

  • For General Rs. 1000/-
  • For Other Backward Classes (OBC)-Non Creamy Layer Rs. 500/-
  • For SC/ST/ Persons with Disability (PwD) Rs. 250/-

13. What all document to be uploaded in CSIR NET Application?

Answer: the following Documents are required to be uploaded during filling the online application form

  • Scanned recent passport size photograph with light background in JPEG/JPG format
  • Scanned Signature JPEG/JPG format
  • Qualifying final/last marksheet or testimonials

14. Will Admit Cards be sent by post?

Answer: No, Admit Card will not be sent by post. Applicants are required to download the e-Admit Cards from the website www.csirhrdg.res.in.

15. What documents are to be carried on CSIR NET Examination day?

Answer: Applicants are required to bring a photo identity card such as voter ID Card/PAN Card/Driving License /Aadhaar Card/Photo ID Card issued PSU/Central/State Govt./ID Card issued by University/ College, along with a printout of their online e-Admit Card on the day of examination.

16. Difference between CSIR NET and UGC NET?

CSIR NET is conducted for those aspirants who wish to apply for Junior Research Fellowship or Lectureship under Science stream while UGC NET is conducted for granting admission for JRF and Lectureship under all the streams.

Q 25. How to clear CSIR UGC NET exam in Mathematical Sciences?

Answer: One of the foremost ways to crack this exam in Mathematical Science stream is that you need to practise as many numbers of questions as you can. It is one of the toughest streams of CSIR NET, and one needs to dedicate at least six months to crack it successfully. Since Part A and Part B of this stream contain 0.50 and 0.75 negative marking respectively, therefore one needs to be sure while solving the questions. Time management is an important key here.
