TISS BAT 2020 Application Form, Exam Dates and Syllabus
TISS BAT 2020 Notification: TISS BAT 2020 is the All India Level Entrance Exam for admission in BA in Social Sciences offered in Guwahati, Hyderabad & Tuljapur and BA Hons in Social Work with specialization in rural development offered only in TISS Tuljapur Campus for the session 2020-23.
TISS BAT 2020-23
- TISS has launched the Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the academic year 2012. Applicants are invited to apply for the 2020-2023 academic year.
- TISS is a Tata Institute of Social Sciences that every year conducts an Entrance Test called Bachelor’s Admission Test (BAT). Through the test, it offers admissions to the eligible aspirants in various BA Programs. All desired applicants can apply at official website. However, the exam will be held in Saturday, April 25, 2020 (Time: 02.00 pm to 04.00 pm)

TISS BAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Before starting with the application process of TISS BAT 2020, the applicants must check the eligibility to apply for TISS BAT 2020 from below:
a) Tuljapur – B.A.(Hons.) in Social Work with specialisation in Rural Development
- Duration: The duration of this Bachelor’s Degree Program is six semesters.
- Eligibility: Students should have passed 12th Class or Intermediate in any subject stream from a Recognized Board. Students who have studied International Baccalaureate Diploma and will be completing 12th class with clear results declared by June 2020 are eligible to apply.
- Applicants who have appeared for their 12th class or Intermediate final exams and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. Final pass result should be produced at the time of joining the program, if selected.
- Age Limit: Applicant should be less than 23 years of age at the time of appearing for the Bachelors Admission Test, as on April 24, 2020. Applications from applicants over this age will not be entertained
b) Guwahati – Three Year BA Program in Social Sciences
- Eligibility: Students should have passed 12th Class or Intermediate in any subject stream from a Recognized Board. Students who have studied International Baccalaureate Diploma and will be completing 12th class with clear results declared by June 2020 are eligible to apply.
- Applicants who have appeared for their 12th class or Intermediate final exams and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. Final pass result should be produced at the time of joining the program, if selected.
- Age Limit: Applicant should be less than 23 years of age at the time of appearing for the Bachelors Admission Test, as on April 24, 2020. Applications from applicants over this age will not be entertained.
- Medium of Instruction: The medium of instruction is English. The students are required to write their assignments, reports and examination in English language.
Intake Limit
- The total intake is 140 seats in BA Programme in Social Sciences and 40 seats in B.A. (Hons) in Social Work. The details of seats by campus and programme are presented below:
- Guwahati Off-Campus [BA Program in Social Sciences] – 60
- Tuljapur Off-Campus [BA Program in Social Sciences] – 40
- Tuljapur Off-campus [BA (Hons) in Social Work in Rural Development] – 40
Reservation Offered via TISS BAT 2020
- Reservation of seats is as per Govt. of India requirements – 15% for Scheduled Castes, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes, 27% for Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) and 1% for Kashmiri Migrants
- The 3% for Persons with Disability as per Disability Act (which is 1% each reserved for persons with (a) Low Vision/Blindness, (b) Hearing Impairment, and (c) Learning Disability/Cerebral Palsy) and 5% for Arm Forces (Supernumerary Quota, respectively)
- The TISS Guwahati Campus has been established with support from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDONER), Govt. of India
- The campus is expected to benefit students from the eight States in the region. 66% of the seats will be proportionately distributed amongst the eight North-eastern States (seats allocated to each of the states will follow the reservation norms of that State); and 34% of the seats for students from rest of India (Govt. of India reservation norms applied to these seats)
TISS BAT 2020 Selection Procedure
Model and marks of the entrance test (B.A. in Social Sciences)
- The entrance test will be of 90 minutes duration and the total marks will be 100
- Part A – will be a 60-minute test with multiple-choice questions on current affairs, social awareness and logical and analytical reasoning, carrying 60 marks.
- Part B – will be a written test with a set of descriptive questions in English. Applicant is expected to write two short answers in 30 minutes carrying 40 marks. It is compulsory for the applicants to attempt both the parts and make sure that they qualify in both the modes
- Details will be notified on the TISS website at the time of declaration of the results.
Both Part A & Part B will have separate cut off marks for evaluation.
- A demo version of the test and a model question will be available on www.camputiss.edu site one month prior to the entrance test, for the applicants to be familiar with the test. Model and marks of the entrance test for BA (Hons) in Social Work and B.A. in Social Sciences programmes admission process consists of two parts.
- The first stage is the entrance test which will be of 90 minutes duration and the total marks will be 100. There will be two parts A & B.
- Part A will be a 60 minute test with multiple choice questions on current affairs, social awareness and logical and analytical reasoning, carrying 60 marks.
- Part B will be a written test with a set of descriptive questions in English. A applicant is expected to write two short answers in 30 minutes carrying 40 marks. It is compulsory for the applicants to attempt both parts and qualify in both the modes. This stage of the test will be the same for BA Social Sciences and BA Social Work.
- A computer based entrance test will be held on April 25, 2020 at designated Test Centres.
- Applicants are expected to give preference for 1 centre in the online application.
- Applicants cannot change this choice through a phone call or email or in person.
- The Institute reserves the right to direct the applicant to one of the Centres chosen by the applicant or to another nearest Centre.

- The entrance test will be held in 21 cities and applicants need to specify any one city. Each city may have more than one centre depending on the number of applicants. The admit card will have this information.

How to Apply?
- Applicants are required to apply online through the E-application process only, please read through this page before filling in the application form. CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE ONLINE APPLICATION SYSTEM.
- Applicants facing technical problems while filling in the application form may call 022-25525252 (Monday to Saturday – Timing 8:00 am to 8:00 pm).
General Instructions about Applying for TISS BAT 2020
- Applicants fulfilling the eligibility criteria should apply for the programme only through an online process by visiting the admissions link on the TISS website on or before March 20, 2019.
- Applicants will enter the online application process by giving their authentic email id. To this email with a link to set a password and access the application.
- Applicants are expected to use the same email id and password for the entire process till the completion of the admission process.
- Applicants will have an option to fill the form and complete the processes entirely at one go or fill partially and save the form for completion before the due date.
- Applicants are encouraged to complete the process at the earliest and not delay the process of online submission till the final date.
- Applicants are expected to give their preference for one centre only in the online application. This preference cannot be changed through a phone call or email or in person.
Application Fee
- Application Fees of Rs.1025/- for General and OBC applicants and for eligible applicants (SC/ ST and OBC (NC) family income less than 2.5 lakhs and OBC-NC applicants with income less than 1 lakh) the fees would be Rs.250 + bank charges can be paid online through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Online transaction.
- Other SC/ST applicants family income more than 2.5 lakhs the application fee would be Rs.500/-.

Photograph for Admit Card
- Photograph with the following specifications needs to be uploaded.
- The photograph should be a recent color photograph taken against a plain background.
- The photograph should show only your face and shoulders.
- The photograph should not have any other object or person in part or full.
The photograph should be a good resolution; clear photograph in png, jpeg format and its size should not exceed 2MB.
