West Bengal Civil Service Vacancies

• The number of vacancies in different services and posts to be filled up on the results of the examination will be announced in due time
• Posts of some groups may not be filled up on the basis of the results of the examination if vacancies for the same are not reported within the stipulated time for filling up such vacancies.

Reservation

• Certain vacancies may be reserved for candidates belonging to SC/ST and Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) of West Bengal declared as such by the Govt. of West Bengal. Some vacancies may also be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (40% and above) provided that they are otherwise suitable and possess the capacity to perform the duties attached to the post
• The benefits of reservation of vacancies for S.C/S.T/B.C.(Non-Creamy Layer) candidates are admissible to S.C./S.T./B.C. (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of West Bengal only
• The S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of other States shall be treated as general candidates

Eligibility for West Bengal Civil Service Exam 2022

Educational Qualifications

• A degree of a recognized University.
• Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali) – vide Finance Department’s Notification No.1243-F(P) dated 02.03.2018.
• N.B. : The candidates must fulfill the requisite qualifications by the closing date of submission of application.

Age Limit

• Not below 21 years but not more than 36 years on the 1st January of the year of examination for services and posts included in Group ‘A’ & ’C’ (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January 1986 and not later than the 1st January 2001)
• For the West Bengal Police Service only (i.e. Group ‘B’ Service) age not below 20 years but not more than 36 years on the 1st January of the year of the exam (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January 1986 and not later than the 1st January 2002)
• For services and posts included in Group ‘D’ the age should not be below 21 years and not more than 39 years on the 1st day of January of the year of the exam (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January 1983 and not later than the 1st January 2001)
• Those candidates whose date of birth lies between the 1st January 2001 & the 1st January 2002 [i.e. whose age is between 20 & 21 years as on 01.01.2022] may apply for Group B only.
• N.B.: Age as recorded only in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate will be accepted. The age limits apply to all the candidates whether in Govt. service or not.

Concession in Age

• The upper age limit is relaxable for S.C., S.T. & B.C. (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of West Bengal, by 5 years for S.C. & S.T. candidates and by 3 years for B.C. (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates
• In the case of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit is relaxable up to 45 years. S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of other States shall be treated as general candidates

WBCS Exam 2022 Selection Procedure

• The selection of the candidates will be through Preliminary Written Examination and Main Examination. For some posts/services, there will be a Personality Test.
• The examination will be held at various examination centers across the state of West Bengal.
• Exact Date, Time and Venue for examination/interview will be intimated to the eligible candidates in due course as well as such information will be also available in the official website of West Bengal Public Service Commission (PSCWB)

Application Fee

• Candidates must pay Application Fee of Rs.210/-. Fee can be paid through Online mode during submission of the online application form by using Debit/Credit card or Net banking OR can be paid through Bank by means of fee payment Challan
• Fee Challan can be downloaded from the official website of the West Bengal Public Service Commission (PSCWB). The last date for payment of application fee through bank/offline.
• NO APPLICATION FEE REQUIRED IN CASE OF SC/ST CANDIDATES OF WEST BENGAL AND PWD CANDIDATES.

West Bengal Civil Service Exam 2022 Apply Online

• Interested and eligible candidates may apply online only through the official website of West Bengal Public Service Commission (PSCWB) http://pscwbapplication.in (See Application form’s link given below).
• A candidate may apply for one or more of the four groups of services, viz., A, B, C, and D.
• Upon successful payment of prescribed fee and submission of the online application form, the system generated Registration/ Acknowledgement Slip will appear on the computer screen. Candidates must print-out it for future correspondence. DO NOT SEND ANY PRINT-OUT/HARD COPY OR DOCUMENTS TO WEST BENGAL PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (PSCWB) AT THIS STAGE.
