Eligibility Criteria for BIS Recruitment 2020
Assistant Director (Administration) for Legal
- Degree in law from a recognized university/ Bachelor of law and,
- Three years‘ experience in the relevant field in Central/ State/ Union Territory Government or Statutory/ Autonomous Body/ Public Sector Undertaking/ reputed Government agency.
Assistant Director (Finance)
- Chartered Accountant/ Cost and Works Accountant/ Subordinate Accounts Service Accountant/ Master of Business Administration (with finance specialization) from a recognized university/ All India Council for Technical Education approved Institution and
- Three years experience in the relevant in Central/ State/ Union Territory Government or Statutory/ Autonomous Body/ Public Sector Undertaking/ reputed Government agency.
Assistant Director (Marketing & Consumer Affairs)
- MBA (Marketing) or Master‘s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication Or
- Master‘s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work from a recognized University/Institution; and Five years’ experience in the field of Marketing / Mass Communication / Social Work in Central Government/ State Government/ Union Territory Government/ Statutory/ Autonomous Body/ Public Sector Undertaking/ reputed Government agency.
Assistant Director (Library)
- Master‘s Degree (Post Graduate Degree) in Library Science or Library and Information Science from a recognized University or Institution or

Junior Translator (Hindi)
- Master’s Degree/Post Graduate Degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as a subject at the Degree level; Or
- Master’s Degree/Post Graduate Degree of a recognized University in English with Hindi as a subject at the Degree level; or
- Master’s Degree/Post Graduate Degree of a recognized University in any subject with Hindi and English as subjects at the Degree level; Or

Exam Pattern
- The exam pattern for all the posts for the BIS Recruitment 2020 is given below. The applicants will be required to secure at least 50 % marks in aggregate out of total maximum marks in the on-line examination, to be considered for the next stage of the selection process for the BIS Recruitment 2020.
STRUCTURE OF ONLINE EXAM
1. For the posts of Assistant Director (Administration & Finance), Assistant Director (Marketing & Consumer Affairs) and Assistant Director (Library), the exam shall be of Post-graduate Level comprising of the following syllabus:

- Applicants can apply online only from 05 September 2020 [9 A.M.] to 26th September 2020 [6 P.M] and no other mode of application will be accepted.
Important Points to be noted before Registration
- Before applying online, candidates should-
- Scan their photograph and signature ensuring that both the photograph and signature adhere to the required specifications as given under Guideline for photograph & signature scan and upload.
- Have a valid personal email ID and mobile no., which should be kept active till the completion of this Recruitment Process. Bank may send intimation to download Admit Cards for the Examination etc. through the registered e-mail ID. In case a candidate does not have a valid personal e-mail ID, he/she should create his/her new e-mail ID and mobile no. before applying on-line and must maintain that email account and mobile number.
- Application Fees/ Intimation Charges (Nonrefundable)
- Payment of Fee Online – 05th September 2020 [09 A.M.] to 26th September 2020 [06 P.M] Bank Transaction charges for Online Payment of application fees/intimation charges will have to be borne by the candidate.
Application Procedure
- Applicants will have to go to the BIS website bis.gov.in and click on tab “Recruitment Advt./Results” under the head “Career Opportunities” and then click on “APPLY ONLINE” which will open a new screen.
- To register application, choose the tab “Click here for New Registration” and enter Name, Contact details and Email-id. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. Applicant must note down the Provisional Registration Number and Password. An Email & SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will also be sent.
- In case the applicant is unable to complete the application form in one go, he / she can save the data already entered by choosing “SAVE AND NEXT” tab. prior to submission of the online application candidates are advised to use the “SAVE AND NEXT” facility to verify the details in the online application form and modify the same if required. Visually Impaired candidates should fill the application form carefully and verify/ get the details verified to ensure that the same are correct prior to final submission.
- Applicants are advised to carefully fill and verify the details filled in the online application themselves as no change will be possible/ entertained after clicking the FINAL SUBMIT BUTTON.
- The Name of the applicant or his /her Father/ Husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/ Mark sheets/Identity proof. Any change/alteration found may disqualify the candidature.
- Validate your details and Save your application by clicking the ‘Validate your details’ and ‘Save & Next ‘button.
- Applicants can proceed to upload Photo & Signature as per the specifications given in the Guidelines for Scanning and Upload of Photograph and Signature detailed under point “C”.
- Applicants can proceed to fill other details of the Application Form.
- Click on the Preview Tab to preview and verify the entire application form before FINAL SUBMIT.
- Modify details, if required, and click on ‘FINAL SUBMIT’ ONLY after verifying and ensuring that the photograph, signature uploaded and other details filled by you are correct.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Question 1: How can I submit my application?
Answer: Applicants needs to apply online. No manual or any other mode would be entertained.
Question 2: Can I apply for more than one post?
Answer: Yes, one applicant can apply for more than one post. Only one application per applicant for each post is allowed.
Question 3: Can I modify/alter the details filled in online application form?
Answer: Yes, the basic details like Name, father name Mother Name & Educational details in online application form can be edited / modified before submission of application fee or final submission of online form and details once finally submitted cannot be changed under any circumstances. Hence, applicants are strictly advised to ensure that they have filled in the correct particulars & details in online application form.
Question 4: Is there any application fee?
Answer: Yes, Refer advertisement for the same. Application Fee needs to be paid online using netbanking, credit/debit card or UPI. No other payment mode is acceptable. Application fee is non-refundable. Failed Transaction amount will be automatically refunded to same A/c from which payment was originally made, within 15 working days.
Question 5: How can I apply online?
Answer: Eligible and interested applicants are required to apply online from 09:00 AM onwards 05th September 2010 upto 26th September 2010 upto 6:00 PM on BIS website. They should have valid E-Mail ID, which should remain valid for at least one & a half year; latest passport size photograph (jpg or jpeg file only upto 50 Kb) as well as photograph of signatures in digital format (jpg or jpeg file only upto 20 kb) for uploading with the application form; Supporting documents for qualification, caste/PwBD certificate and identity proof for uploading (pdf/jpeg/jpg file only upto 01MB each).
Question 6: In my Graduation/Post Graduation course, only GPA/CGPA/OGPA/DGPA/SGPA or letter grade has been awarded in place of percentage of marks. Can I enter the grade in my application?
Answer: Applicants who have been awarded GPA/CGPA/OGPA/DGPA/SGPA or letter grade should convert it into percentage and provide only the equivalent percentage of marks in the online application form. Where no norms have been specified, the CGPA/OGPA will be presumed to have been provided on a 10 point scale. Applicants would be required to provide CGPA to Percentage conversion formula of their Institute/University at the time of document verification, if shortlisted.
Question 7: What is the cut-off date of ascertaining eligibility for age, qualification etc.?
Answer: The cut-off date for meeting age criterion and possession of minimum educational qualification shall be 26th September 2020 and will remain unchanged irrespective of any reason whatsoever. Further, the date of declaration of result/issuance of final marks-sheet or passing Certificate, whichever is earlier, shall be deemed to be the date of acquiring minimum educational qualification and there shall be no relaxation on this account.
Question 8: I am SC/ST/OBC applicant but don’t have a caste certificate, can I apply as a General applicant?
Answer: If you so desire, you may apply as “General” applicant (if eligible for General category) giving your category as “General”. In such an event, your candidature will be considered as “General” and no change in category shall be allowed at a later date.
Question 9: I am a Hearing Impaired (HH) PwBD applicant. Can I bring my own scribe?
Answer: No. Only those applicants whose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any reason may use services of their own scribe at their cost during the online examination.
Question 10: Will any TA/DA be paid for attending online test?
Answer: No. Applicants have to make their own arrangement for travelling, lodging and boarding for appearing in online test and no TA/DA will be paid in this regard.
Question 11: What is the structure of online test?
Answer: Medium of Test will be in Rajbhasha (Hindi) and English. Duration of test will be 02 hours (120 minutes). The total number of questions will be 150, of one mark each. The examination level of the domain subject will be of minimum prescribed educational qualification.
