  • Raw Materials Division (RMD), the controlling unit of captive mines of SAIL invited applications from eligible persons for filling up the following posts for posting in its various mines as detailed below:

Executive Cadre

  • Medical Officer – 01

Non-Executive Cadre

  • Mining Foreman – 40
  • Mining Mate – 51
  • Surveyor (Mines) – 09

Operator-Cum Technician (Trainee)

  • Electrical – 13 Posts
  • Chemical – 4 Posts
  • Attendant-Cum-Technician (Trainee) (HMV) [ACTT-HMV] – 20 Posts
  • Nursing Sister (Trainee) – 10 Posts

Educational Qualification

Executive Cadre

  • Medical Officer [Dental] – BDS with minimum 65% aggregate marks and with 01-year post qualification experience.

Non-executive Cadre

  • Mining Foreman – Matriculation with 03 years full-time Diploma in Mining Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate marks for General/ OBC/ EWS applicants [40% aggregate marks for SC/ ST applicants] with valid Mines Foreman Certificate of Competency with 01-year post qualification experience in the relevant field.
  • Mining Mate – Matriculation with valid Mining Mate Certificate of Competency with 1 (one) year post qualification experience in the relevant field.
  • Surveyor (Mines) – Matriculation and 03 years full-time Diploma in Mining & Mines’ Surveying with minimum 50% aggregate marks and possessing valid Mines Surveyor’s certificate of Competency and having one-year post qualification experience in the relevant field.
  • Operator-Cum Technician (Trainee) {Electrical and Chemical} – Matriculation and 3 years full-time Diploma with minimum 50% aggregate marks for General/ OBC/ EWS applicants.
  • Attendant-Cum Technician (Trainee) (HMV) [ACTT-HMV] – Matriculation with valid relevant Heavy Motor Vehicle Driving License or equivalent to operate heavy Earth Moving/ Mining Equipment and having at least one year experience in operation of Earth Moving/ Mining Equipment
  • Nursing Sister (Trainee) – B.Sc. (Nursing) or 10+2/Intermediate in Science with regular Diploma of minimum 03(three) years duration in General Nursing & Midwifery.

Age Limit

  • The age limit should be 30 years for MO posts and 28 years for all other posts.

Relaxation in upper age limit

  • The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (NCL) applicants with respect to posts reserved for them.
  • Note: OBC applicants belonging to the ‘Creamy layer’ are not entitled to OBC reservation and relaxation and such applicants have to indicate their category as General. OBC (Non-creamy layer) and EWS category applicants are required to submit the requisite certificate issued in the current financial year (on or after 01/04/2019) by the Competent Authority in the prescribed formats available on sailcareers.com at the time of Interview or skill test/Trade Test.
  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS applicants can apply against the unreserved posts provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria for the unreserved category.

SAIL RMD Recruitment 2019 Selection Process

  • SAIL RMD selection will be based on written test, interview (only for MO) and skill test (except MO).

i) For the post of Medical Officer (Dental)

  • Selection will be through written examination and interview. Eligible applicants will be required to appear in the written examination. Applicants shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Written Test will be required to appear in the interview in order of merit, in the ratio of 1:3 for each post. The interview may be held at short notice for which the call letters will be uploaded on the careers page of the SAIL website. For final selection, the merit list will be drawn by combining the scores of written examination and Interview with the weightage of 80:20 in that order and on the basis of Presidential Directives of Reservation.

ii) For the post of Mining Foreman, Mining Mate, Surveyor (Mines), Nursing Sister (Trainee), Operator-cum-Technician (Trainee) and Attendant-cum- Technician (Trainee) [HMV]:

  • Selection will be through written examination and skill test. Eligible applicants will be required to appear in the written examination. Applicants shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Written Test will be required to appear in the skill test/ trade test in order of merit, in the ratio of 1:3 for each post. Weightage for selection would be 100% based on the marks obtained in the written examination. The skill test/ Trade Test will be of qualifying nature. Date, Time & Place of the Written Test and skill test will be intimated to eligible/shortlisted applicants through email or careers page of the SAIL website.
  • The written test will compromise of a total 100 questions (Multiple Choice Questions) which are to be attempted in 90 minutes.
  • Each question will carry 1 mark and for each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. The question paper will be of objective type. The answer has to be provided in the Answer Sheet [OMR Sheet) which will be provided at the test venue. Any other information regarding written examination and skill test/ trade test will be provided on the website www.sail.co.in only.

  • Operator-cum-Technician (Trainee) – 01st Year – Rs.10,700 Per Month & 02nd Year – Rs.12,200 Per Month

  • 02nd Year – Rs.10,000/-
  • The CTC would be around Rs.9 (Nine) lakhs per annum. In addition, the Company provides benefits like Leave encashment, Housing/ HRA and free medical facility for self and dependents as per Company rules

How to Apply?

  • Eligible and interested applicants would be required to apply online only through SAIL’s website sail.co.in at the link “Careers” and clicking Raw materials Division. No other mode of application shall be accepted. To apply, applicants may click at the link of the post applying for and submit information online in the appropriate fields.
  • Before applying the applicants should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility norms as per the advertisement. Their admission at all stages of the examination will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions, which will be verified at the time of Skill Test / Trade Test or Interview. Mere issue of admit card for written examination/call letter for Skill Test / Trade Test or Interview will not imply acceptance of candidature.
  • Applicants are advised to read carefully instructions for online submission of application. The same will be available on the website. Before registering their application on the website, applicants should ensure the following:
    • Possess a Valid e-mail ID and Mobile No., which should remain valid for at least one year.
    • Pay in Slip (SBI Challan) of Rs.500/- or Rs.250/- or Rs.150/-. SC/ST applicants are exempted from payment of Application and Processing fees. The Pay in Slip is to be downloaded from the website after filling in the required details.
    • Applicants should have the latest passport size colored photograph (jpg or jpeg file only up to 50kb) as well as a photograph of signature in digital format (jpg or jpeg file only up to 20kb) for uploading with the online application form.
    • While submitting the application online, applicants should note that Category (General/SC/ST/OBC/ EWS) once submitted in the application cannot be changed and no benefit of other categories will be subsequently admissible.
    • While applying the applicants should enter their full name as it appears in the Matriculation/ Secondary School certificate. In case of change of name at a later stage, necessary documentary proof to be submitted at the time of Skill Test/Trade Test or Interview.
    • The applicants will be allowed to appear in the Written Test only if they possess the valid Admit Card which will be available for downloading from the SAIL website. However, applicants shortlisted for Skill Test/ Trade Test or Interview would be required to furnish documents regarding proof of date of birth, qualification, category, etc. at the time of Skill Test/ Trade Test or Interview.
    • While filling the online application, applicants must carefully follow all the steps. Incomplete application/ application without a fee (where applicable) / application not fulfilling any eligibility criteria will be rejected summarily. No communication will be entertained by the applicants in this regard.

Step 1: Filling up of application

  • Go to SAIL Careers page at sail.co.in
  • Read the Advertisement carefully to be sure about your eligibility.
  • If eligible, click on the link “Apply”.
  • Fill up the required fields and upload the photograph & signature.
  • Ensure the information provided is correct and then submit.
  • Verify your credentials with your registered email ID or mobile number for proceeding further for payment.

Step 2: Making Payment

  • State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to collect the application/processing fee in a specially opened Power Jyoti Account No.32469839252 at SBI, CAG Branch, Kolkata, on behalf of SAIL RMD.
  • The applicant has to approach any State Bank of India branch (having Core Banking facilities) with a printout of the “SBI Challan” which is available on the Application Portal.

Step 3: Final Registration & Printing of Provisional Registration Slip

  • Once the payment is made, the State Bank Collect Reference No. and date of payment is required to be entered in the SAIL online application form on the Careers website by the applicant to generate the provisional registration slip.
  • No request for editing of payment details and the issue of admit card will be entertained in wrong submission cases and candidature will stand rejected.
  • After applying online, the applicant is required to download the system generated Provisional Registration Slip with unique registration number and other essential details.
  • Applicants are not required to send any document to Raw Materials Division (RMD) at this stage.
