UPSC Geologist Exam 2021 Notification and Dates

UPSC Geologist Exam 2021 – Applications are invited for UPSC Geologist 2021 and Geo-Scientist Exam 2021 and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued exam notification of Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination 2021. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold a Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Exam 2021 (Computer Based Test) on January 2021 for selection to the Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination 2021, in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Mines in the Gazette of India. UPSC Geoscientist Vacancy Details

  • The categories of post to which recruitment is to be made on the results of this exam and the approximate number of vacancies in the various posts are given below:

Reservation

  • Reservations will be made for applicants belonging to SC/ST Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections and Persons with Benchmark disability categories in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Govt.

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Geologist Exam 2021

  • Nationality: A applicant must be either (a) a Citizen of India, or (b) a subject of Nepal, or (c) a subject of Bhutan, or (d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 01st Jan 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Provided that a applicant belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt. of India.

Age Limit for UPSC Geologist Exam 2021

Applicant for this examination must have attained the age criteria as prescribed below:

  • For Geologist/Geophysicist & Chemist (Group ‘A’) in the Geological Survey of India, an attached office of Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India.
  • Applicant must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the Exam is to be held (i.e. as on 01st Jan. 2021] i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 02nd January 1989 and not later than 01st January 2000.
  • For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group A) in Central Ground water Board, Ministry of Water Resources.
    Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained at the age of 35 years on 01st January 2021 he/she must have been born not later than 02nd January 1989 and not later than 01st January 2000.
  • The upper age limit will be relaxable upto a maximum of 7 years in the case of Govt. Servants; if they are employed in dept. mentioned Age Relaxation:
  • 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates
  • 3 years for OBC candidates
  • Age is additionally relaxable by 5 years for those applicants who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 01st January 1989 to 31st December 1989.
  • 3 years for Defence Services personnel (disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof)
  • 5 years in case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs
  • 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically Handicapped persons

Educational Qualifications

  • For Geologists Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: Masters Degree in Geological Science or Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology from a university incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or an Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university u/s 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956
  • For Geophysicists Gr. ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc (Tech) (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
  • For Chemists Gr ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: M.Sc in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956) i.e. recognized University.
  • For Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist-B) Group ‘A’ in Central Ground Water Board: Masters Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or marine Geology from a from a university incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or an Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or Masters Degree in Hydrogeology from a recognised University.

Physical Standards

  • Applicants must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to the Exam 2020 as per Regulations given in Appendix-II of the rules for the Combined Geo-scientist Exam 2020 in Gazette of India dated

UPSC Geologist Exam Pattern 2021

  • Here applicants check the details UPSC Combined GEO-Scientist and Geologist Examination 2021 Exam Pattern. Before preparation for this exam just read the below steps::
  • The question paper will be a subjective or Written Exam.
  • For the Geologist post the question paper’s total marks will be 200. there will be three question papers. Geophysicist has been 3 question papers, the every question paper will be 200 Marks.
  • In the post of Chemistry, there will be also three question papers.
  • For the Jr. Hydrogeologist applicants required the qualify the 2 Question papers of Geology and 1 paper of Hydrogeology.
  • For the Interview/ Personality Test applicants must qualify the written exam.
  • Total marks will 200 for the Interview/ Personality Test.

  • The Preliminary Examination will be held at the following Centers: Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Delhi, Dispur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Shillong, Shimla, and Thiruvananthapuram.

Application Fees

  • Applicants (excepting Female/SC/ST/PH applicants who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (rupees two hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
  • Applicants who opt for “Pay by cash” mode should print the system generated Payin-Slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only
  • “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23.59 hours of first week of October 2021 i.e. one day before the closing date; however, applicants who have generated their Pay-in- Slip before it is deactivated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date.
  • All Female Applicants and applicants belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes are not required to pay any fee. No fee exemption is, however, available to OBC/EWS applicants and they are required to pay the prescribed full fee.

How to Apply?

  • Applicants are required to apply Online using the link https://www.upsconline.nic.in. Detailed instructions for filling up Online Applications are available on the above mentioned website.
  • Applicant should have details of one Photo ID Card viz. Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government.
  • The details of this Photo ID Card will have to be provided by the applicant while filling up the online application form.
  • The applicants will have to upload a scanned copy of the Photo ID whose details have been provided in the online application by him/her. This Photo ID Card will be used for all future referencing and the applicant is advised to carry this Photo ID Card while appearing for Examination/ Personality Test.
  • The eligible applicants shall be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the Examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available in the UPSC website [https://upsconline.nic.in] for downloading by applicants. No Admission Certificate will be sent by post.
  • All the applicants are required to provide valid active E-Mail I.D. while filling up Online Application Form as the Commission may use electronic mode for contacting them at different stages of examination process.
