Eligibility Criteria for WBSETCL Apprentice Recruitment 2022
Educational Qualification
- Graduate Apprentice (Electrical): Graduation in Electrical Engineering (04 years full time course) from any Institute recognized by the AICTE.
- Technician Apprentice (Electrical): Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Technology (03 years full time course) from any institute recognized by the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.
Note
- The applicants should have passed the Graduation/Diploma in Engineering streams, as stated above, in the year 2019, 2020 & 2021 are only eligible to apply
- Only candidates, who will enroll themselves with the National Apprentice Training Scheme (NATS) portal (www.mhrdnats.gov.in) and send an email at [email protected], expressing his/her interest towards selection as an apprentice under WBSETCL within 11.03.2022, shall be considered for selection procedure of candidature of Apprentice under WBSETCL
- Candidates, who have previously undergone Apprenticeship Training or are presently undergoing Apprenticeship Training or presently in employment elsewhere are registered for Apprenticeship Training under the Apprenticeship Act elsewhere, are not eligible to apply
Age Limit
- The minimum age of the candidates should be as follows:
- Graduate Apprentice (Electrical) – 22 years
- Technician Apprentice (Electrical) – 18 years
- Date of Birth will be taken as that mentioned in the Birth Certificate, issued by the Competent Authority / Certificate or Admit card of Class X or equivalent examination. No other proof of date of birth shall be accepted.
Stipend
- Monthly stipend will be paid as per the below mentioned prescribed rates governed by the Apprenticeship Act, 1961
- Graduate Apprentice (Electrical) Rs.9000/-
- Technician Apprentice (Electrical) Rs.8000/-
- No other allowances, including the fooding / lodging facility and medical facility, will be paid to the selected candidates. This stipend will be paid directly into the bank account of the apprentices.
Registration of Contract
- The selected candidates will be required to sign Contracts of Apprenticeship Training with WBSETCL through online mode as per the rules of the BOPT
Place of Training
- The selected candidates will be posted for training at Substations of the Company spread across the state of West Bengal
Period of Apprenticeship Training
- The total period of the training will be for 12 months commencing from the date of execution of the Contract of Apprenticeship.
Termination of Contract
- After completion of the apprenticeship training for stipulated period, the Apprenticeship Contract shall automatically cease. There shall be no obligation on the part of WBSETCL to offer any employment thereafter.
- Further, any act of indiscipline on the part of the apprentices may lead to cancellation of the training and termination of the Contract with the Apprentice. Suppression of facts or submission of wrong information, whether willfully or inadvertently, may also lead to disqualification at any stage of the selection process or even during the training period

How to Apply?
- Step-1: The interested eligible candidates are required to register themselves in the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) web portal https://portal.mhrdnats.gov.in within 11.03.2022. Those candidates, who are already registered in the portal, are required to update their details especially the address, mobile number and email id.
- Step-2: After completing the Step 1, the candidate will be required to send an email at [email protected], expressing his/her interest towards selection as an apprentice under WBSETCL for 12 months duration for 2022-23, furnishing the following information within 11.03.2022
- The subject line of the e-mail should be ‘APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT AS APPRENTICE_(NATS Registration No.)’ and must be sent from the email Id, registered at National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) web portal (https://portal.mhrdnats.gov.in)
- The candidates, belonging to SC/ST/OBC(A)/OBC(B), will have to attach their Caste Certificate issued by the Competent Authority of West Bengal to the email
- The email, received after the deadline as mentioned above, will not be taken into consideration while enlisting the candidates for subsequent selection process.
- The information submitted above cannot be changed/altered after submission. Therefore, the candidates must be extremely careful while sending the mail. In case of receipt of more than 1(one) application/email from a candidate, the information, furnished in the last received application/email, will be considered.
- No other mode of application would be accepted
- The eligible candidates are required to mention the overall percentage (%) of marks during registering themselves on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) web portal (https://portal.mhrdnats.gov.in). The candidates, belonging to University/Institute, where CGPA/DGPA is awarded by the University/Institute in the qualifying degree, will have to convert their score to equivalent percentage as per norms adopted by the University/Institute
- However, in case the eligible registered candidates have mentioned the CGPA/DGPA marks during registration, the same would be converted to equivalent Percentage (%) marks following the calculation of the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal (formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology) i.e. Percentage (%) = [(CGPA or DGPA – 0.75) × 10, irrespective of the Degree awarded by any University
- Caste category (General/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B), provided by the candidate at the time of registration in the NATS portal (https://portal.mhrdnats.gov.in) as on the last date of application/receipt of email from the applicants, will be taken into consideration and no benefit of reservation will subsequently be made admissible at any stage of the selection process and during the entire training period.
WBSETCL Apprentice Recruitment 2022 Selection Procedure
- List of candidates for Graduate Apprentice (Elect.) and Technician Apprentice (Elect.) obtained from the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) web portal mhrdnats.gov.in, who have sent the email within 11.03.2022 will only be considered for subsequent selection procedure.
- The selection shall be made based on merit (i.e. based on overall percentage (%) of marks secured in the qualifying examination) from the list of registered candidates, downloaded from the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) web portal https://portal.mhrdnats.gov.in and who have submitted email showing their interest to be engaged as apprentices under WBSETCL.
- Final selection of the candidates in each caste category will be made after verification of documents as per vacancy details mentioned above. Attending the documents verification by a candidate does not construe his/her selection as Apprentice with WBSETCL.
